Selecting geared hinges prepped with electric power transfer (EPT) is a smart choice for ensuring secure and efficient power transfer from the door frame to the edge of a swinging door.  Ives XY and HD Series Continuous Geared Hinges offer cut out prep for electrical power transfer (EPT). 


Overview

Electrical power transfer provides the most durable electrification solution for transferring power from the door frame to the edge of a swinging door. EPTs are superior to through-wire panels for high-traffic applications, as they minimize the ability of manage to wiring with the opening of the door. 

Ives XY and HD Series Geared Continuous Hinges provide standard cut outs to fit Von Duprin EPT-2, EPT-10 and PNT-1 devices. They are not compatible with swing clear hinges. Secure Power Transfer: Ensures efficient and secure power transfer from the door frame to the edge of a swinging door.

Ives aluminum continuous hinges are available with factory modified cutouts to accommodate most electrical frame to door requirements. Special templates are required. Ives continuous hinge EPT’s (measure from the top of the hinge to the centerline of the EPT cutout)

 

When ordering indicate the following:

1. Opening size.

2. Handing. LH, RH, LHR or RHR.

3. Manufacturer and model number of the electrical product being used. Example: Von Duprin ETPT2. Because clearances may vary between door and frame manufacturer, and locations can be influenced by the door hardware it is always recommend contacting Ives Customer Technical for specific template information. Below are standard locations for Von Duprin EPT2 or EPT10, and monitor switch.

In accordance with industry standards, all cutouts are made from top edge of door to center line of cut-out. If top of door to top of cut-out is provided, 4 3⁄4" are added to the dimension provided to determine the centerline of the cut-out. This provides an extra 1⁄8" of tolerance to ensure the EPT will fit during installation when varying installation methods are used.
